Build South Africa 2026 Latest News!

It's been announced that our local team of twelve young people and young adults will be joining up with thirteen others from across the UK, enabling them to travel to South Africa as a group with Amor Europe, to build a home for a family living in poverty! It is hoped all 25 volunteers will meet up in late Spring at an introduction event before setting off altogether in July!
Since last year we've been busy raising money for the trip by hosting coffee mornings, car boot sales, afternoon teas, quiz nights, a concert, a ceilidh, and World Book Day celebrations. LUPC's own Emily and Jasmine held a very successful race night in the Kirkintilloch Miners, which was great fun and raised a tremendous £2062.
Thanks to the enthusiastic and generous support from the congregations of St David's Memorial Park and Lenzie Union Parish Churches, plus the wider Lenzie/Kirkintilloch community, it gives us great pleasure to announce the current fundraising pot sits around £20,000!! That is a phenomenal amount and gets us so close to our final target of £26,400.
To kick off the final round of fundraisers, first up is an 18 mile sponsored walk from the Kelpies in Falkirk to SDMP in Kirkintilloch by Charlotte on 4 April, Easter Saturday. Charlotte, at 15 years old, is the youngest member of our team and we wish her the best of luck with her challenge! If you would like to support her challenge, you can donate via her just giving page, or alternatively via our crowdfunder page (just reference "Charlotte Walk" and Catriona will allocate it against her name).
Otherwise the team remains busy preparing for more enjoyable events! There are plans for a car wash, another ceilidh, a country night, an all ages games evening, and hopefully a concert too. Look out for announcements on our Facebook page or via the Church website if any of these are of interest!

Finally, thank you to everyone who has lent their support - financial, prayerful, and even your presence at our events. It's all greatly appreciated and we couldn't do this without you.
